A shot of the Freedom Tower before it was finished from the Jersey side of the river. The twisted beam in the foreground is from the wreckage of 9/11. Thought it was poignant to line them up in this shot to show the terrible that happened and the progress toward the future beyond.

The Boat House on Flickr.

Found the abandoned boat house in Alpine, NJ. This structure was built around 100 years ago to serve the mansions that used to dominate the cliffs above. The ruins still sit on the Hudson river.

The Great Falls have been named a national park and the whole area is undergoing a type of renewal. Figured it was time to re visit this spot before it all changes. Plus it’s nice to see how far my skills have come since I first shot it back in 2008

Visitors on Flickr.

Shot in an underground tunnel that runs under the Palisades InterState Parkway. This is a light painting uning a 25-30 second exposure and a LED light wand.. No PhotoShop other than a levels adjust and my watermark..

Second attempt at Spinning steel wool.. This time in the bowls of a water run off canal under the Palisades Interstate Parkway.. Standing in about 3 inches of water, but totally worth it.

A companion piece to my last foggy bridge shot. This was shot the same day, just a few feet down the road. Amazing how you can’t see NYC beyond and it looks like the bridge just evaporates in the distance

Bridge to Nowhere on Flickr.

Like a scene from an apocalyptic movie.. I half expected a creature to crawl out of the river.
The weather went from 25 degrees to 40 in a matter of hours and the result was this awesome fog.. Can’t even see the NY side of the river. Taken under the GWB from NJ.

I’ve been reading about “spinning wool” for a couple years now.. Finally decided to give it a try. On a cold, snowy night I wandered down the train tracks in an industrial section of town and set up this shot.. Got it on the first take!
Tech info.. F8 @ around 30 second exposure ISO 200 on a tripod, triggered with my wireless remote.
